Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome
On behalf of everyone at St Thomas of Canterbury Church of England Junior School I am very pleased to welcome you to our community. We aim to provide a high quality education, where every child has the opportunity to realise their full potential in all aspects of their education, within a caring, Christian community.

As a Junior School we aim to make the transition process to Key Stage 2 as seamless as possible and continue to build upon the many positive experiences your children will have already encountered at Key Stage 1. Ultimately we are looking to develop a proactive partnership between home and school with your child’s best interests at the heart of our decision making. At St. Thomas’ Junior School we believe that the education of your child is most effective when we work in partnership based on mutual respect and understanding.

The teaching and non-teaching staff at our school are committed to working with your child to help them achieve their full potential as a member of our caring Christian school community, where everyone is valued and respected. Children enjoy coming to our school because it is a safe and welcoming environment. They are well taught and form positive relationships with their teachers and friends. Our school is calm, purposeful and well organised; behaviour is based on our belief in the principles of Character Education and the teaching of  Christian values.

We hope the website and prospectus will inform you of the school aims, organisation, activities, expectations and achievements. It is however, by its nature, a précis of our school. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school so that we can arrange a mutually convenient appointment.

We are always happy to show visitors around our school, to see the school in action and meet our children.
