Historically, in Essex, there has been no need for the parents of most children attending Year 2 of an Infant School in Essex to make an application directly to the Council for a place at the partner or co-located Junior School in Year 3. Instead, arrangements have been in place for parents of Year 2 children to sign the transfer register if they want their child to join the Junior School in Year 3.
However, for admissions from September 2019 into Year 3 of Junior Schools, we are now required to implement a fully co-ordinated scheme whereby parents of Year 2 children in an Infant School will need to make a formal application and submit this to the Local Authority by the statutory national closing date. Offers of places will be communicated to parents by the LA in writing on the statutory national offer day. The application form will be available to be submitted online and a hard copy on request for those parents unable to apply online. More than 95% of parents in Essex now apply online and so we would hope this will be a seamless process.
